Constitution House Day honors Miss Dalley and boarders<\/strong><\/p>\n

The marker for Miss Dalley\u2019s boarding house where Gouverneur Morris, Alexander Hamilton and Elbridge Gerry boarded during the Constitutional Convention was unveiled this weekend.<\/p>\n

By official proclamation, the City of Philadelphia declared April 18 to be Constitution House Day in honor of Miss Dalley’s boarding house.<\/p>\n

Statutes and Stories thanks the wonderful City of Philly, Mayor Parker, Michael Newmuis (2026 Director for the City), Richard Brookhiser, NSDAR (Beth Watkins, Suzanne Heske, Susan Gilette Meer), NSSAR (Michael Elston), Tim Schantz (Historical Society of Pennsylvania), Nicole Scholet (Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society),  Christian Cassidy-Amstutz (America250PA), Eunho Jung (University of Pennsylvania), and of course the Philly Fife and Drum Company and the SAR color guard.<\/p>\n

Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (Ken Weinstein, Randell Spackman, Alli Davis, John Wood) which recognized that Miss Dalley’s boarding house was on par with the Declaration House. Additional names and copies of speeches will be added in the next few days. The marker ceremony was held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the OAH which graciously welcomed us in the City of Brotherly Love. The Constitution would only have been fading pieces of parchment but for ratification.
