The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. The following morning, it began its journey from the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia to the Confederation Congress in New York. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cover letter that transmitted the Constitution was signed by George Washington. But did Washington “write” the cover letter which introduced the Constitution to the world ? The following PowerPoint presentation makes the case that Alexander Hamilton was the cover letter’s author. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Hamilton Authorship Thesis (HAT) proposes that Hamilton wrote the cover letter between September 8 – 12, 1787 on behalf of the five member Committee of Style and Arrangement.
