Video Presentation – New Insights into the Constitutional Convention

“New Insights into the Constitutional Convention”

Copied below is a link to the video presentation recorded by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society (the “AHA Society”) in September of 2025 to Constitution Day.

As described by the AHA Society, Professor John P. Kaminski and attorney Adam Levinson examine primary sources that illuminate Hamilton’s role at the Convention. Their discussion offers a more nuanced picture of a figure too often dismissed, revealing how Hamilton’s presence shaped the making of the Constitution.

Even in 2025, historians continue to uncover overlooked details about the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Based on a deep dive into archival records, we now have reason to believe that Alexander Hamilton may have played a larger role at the Convention than previously understood.

Tradition tells us Hamilton arrived late, left in frustration, and played little part. Yet records show he was indispensable in securing the Convention itself, even while knowing his New York delegation would be dominated by Antifederalist votes. His movements raise enduring questions: why did he withdraw, why did he return, where did he reside during those tense months, and what part did he play in the critical final weeks of September?
